Hymn dilema, please help!

by Beanyem @ 08/07/2007 - 18:07:30

Ok, well as you know I am getting married in August and me and my bf had a discussion/argument/me-stomping-off-because-he-was-not-listening/debate about whihc hymns to use.

The problem is that none of us know many.

We thought of:

Give me oil in my lamp
Lord of all holiness (I think)
When a knight won his spurs

Oh and for first dance:

Easy listening, we have a singer..... yes, a wedding singer.

Or.......

But without the coling firth bits, sorry was the best I could find.

Anyway, let me know

Thanks. xx

Wedding Hymns:
O Perfect Love Hymn

O perfect Love, all human thought transcending,
Lowly we kneel in prayer before Thy throne,
That theirs may be the love which knows no ending,
Whom Thou forevermore dost join in one.

O perfect Life, be Thou their full assurance,
Of tender charity and steadfast faith,
Of patient hope and quiet, brave endurance,
With childlike trust that fears nor pain nor death.

Grant them the joy which brightens earthly sorrow;
Grant them the peace which calms all earthly strife,
And to life’s day the glorious unknown morrow
That dawns upon eternal love and life.

Hear us, O Father, gracious and forgiving,
Through Jesus Christ, Thy coeternal Word,
Who, with the Holy Ghost, by all things living
Now and to endless ages art adored.

All things bright and beautiful

or

Bind us together, Lord
Bind us together
With cords that cannot be broken.
Bind us together, Lord,
Bind us together,
Bind us together with love.

There is only one God,
There is only one King,
There is only one Body,
That is why we sing:

Made for the glory of God,
Purchased by His precious Son,
Born with the right to be clean,
For Jesus the victory has won.

You are the family of God,
You are the promise divine,
You are God's chosen desire,
You are the glorious new wine.

What faffa sezs...she is the on to ask...

Call me odd but I love All Things Bright and Beautiful at weddings. It's so cheerful and positive and everybody there would definitely know it.

And song wise, I would go for whichever one makes you smile the most when you think about dancing to it. Nat King Cole gets my vote!

Well it could be:
"Aint no mountain high enough" but the singer (yes you can laugh) can not sing that high!!

Question for self: Why did we choose to have a singer?

I'm planning on having "The Rose" at mine.
(I'm a 54-year old spinster!)
One of my cousins kids had "Wind Beneath my Wings" at hers. Think that's its name. "Did you know you're my hero etc."
I'm also having "Ave Maria" 'cos my friend wants to sing it at someone's wedding. Let's hope she's not holding her breath.
I believe there's 2 versions of "Ave Maria". I don't care which one I have.
